As a family, lighting candles has always been a part of our everyday lives. Candles were, and always will be, a constant for us. A source of peace, happiness, and light, both literally and metaphorically.
We grew up watching our mother and grandmothers light a candle every day, whether it was during a Pooja, for a calming fragrance, or simply to create a sense of comfort and presence in the home. Over time, we began lighting candles too, continuing the tradition, not just out of routine, but because it made us feel closer to home while we were far from it.
As we moved through different phases of life, new homes, new cities, and new challenges, lighting a candle remained our quiet anchor. It reminded us of where we come from, what we value, and the warmth of family that never fades, no matter the distance.
This deep-rooted love for candles eventually sparked something bigger. We began experimenting with our own blends and fragrances that reminded us of home, rituals, and moments we held close. Slowly, this passion evolved into Guru Om.
Guru Om is inspired by our faith in our Guru. In Sanskrit, “Gu” means darkness and “Ru” means light. Essentially, a Guru is someone who leads you from darkness to light, and Om, the first and most sacred mantra in Hinduism, symbolises the soul, the self, and the infinite truth of the universe. This philosophy is at the heart of everything we create. Our goal with every candle is simple yet powerful: to help guide you from moments of darkness into light. For us, that light comes through our spiritual faith, but for you, it could be anything, a person, a memory, a song, a quiet ritual, or even a morning cup of chai. Whatever brings you comfort, hope, and clarity, that is your light. Our products are a reminder that you can always be led from dark times into the light. This message is reflected in our unconventional packaging.
We all see things differently, and it may seem unusual, but we chose black as the predominant colour for our brand because, to us, black is a symbol of strength—a colour that absorbs negativity and symbolises elegance and confidence. Our candles come in all-black boxes and gutthis, representing the darkness, while the candles themselves represent the light.
Our candles are a symbolic reminder to people that they are not alone. They help people rejuvenate, meditate and relax. After months of research and care, we’ve created unique soy wax candles with thoughtfully chosen scents that reflect our love for thoughtful, intentional living.
